Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) and other Dual Enrollment Programs

Seniors to Sophomores -- As many of you are aware, Governor Strickland announced a new dual enrollment program "Seniors to Sophomores" in his State of the State speech.  While the details are still emerging, information about the pilot program can be found at the following link.  The new program is supposedly not intended to replace PSEO.  But we will watch this program carefully as PSEO remains one of the solid options for gifted high school students.  The Partnership for Continued Learning will discuss dual enrollment issues at the March 18th meeting.  We will provide the minutes of that meeting as we receive them.  If you are interested in learning more about the Seniors to Sophomores program, please click here.

HB424 -- House Education Chair Arlene Setzer introduced what she calls a "placeholder bill" for PSEO reform.  The bill will incorporate several changes recommended by the Partnership for Continued Learning PSEO subcommittee.  While the bill needs some work to ensure that the language supports the intent of the Rep. Setzer, it is largely a step forward.  As the Partnership for Continued Learning takes up this issue in March expect more changes to be made to the bill.  To read the bill language and a brief summary of the bill provisions, please click on the following links.

Non-Public PSEO Rule -- The State Board of Education is currently reviewing changes to the Non-Public Student PSEO Rule as required by HB119.  The latest draft that will be filed for adoption is posted below. Non-Public PSEO Option A Draft

The PSEO submcommittee of the PCL met several times in 2007 to finalize recommendations for the full Partnership for Continued Learning (PCL) on dual enrollment. The work of the sub-committee is complete, for now.   Minutes and final recommendations can be downloaded below.
