2010 Federal Initiatives

NAGC has issued two new position statements:

1. Growth Model Position Statement

2. Response to Intervention Position Statement

In addition, there are two federal initiatives of which gifted advocates should be aware:

  • Securing funding for the Javits gifted and talented act, which has been effectively eliminated in the Obama education budget request.
  • A new bill introduced by Senators Dodd and Grassley (S. 3086) called the "Equity and Excellence" Act of 2010, which would allow grants to support the closing of the high-end achievement gap between low-income high achieving students and their higher-income peers.
