While we await news regarding the temporary restraining order, the future of the State Board of Education, and the name of the future director of ODEW, changes affecting gifted education within the department were announced late last week.
The Gifted Team within ODEW has moved to the Office of Learning and Instructional Strategies located in the Center for Teaching, Leading, and Learning. The director of that office is Sherry Birchem. Sherry will now be working with the Gifted Advisory Council.
OAGC will be working closely with ODEW to determine the impact of this change on gifted policy in the future.
