HB305 – On a vote of 84 – 8 the Ohio House passed the HB305, the Cupp-Patterson school funding bill. This represents a big leap for the bill, but it is still unlikely that the bill will move in the Ohio Senate during the lame duck session. OAGC submitted written testimony as an interested party this week. That testimony can be accessed at http://www.oagc.com/files/SheldonTestimonyHB305.Dec.1.2020.pdf
OAGC has a number of concerns with the gifted formula as well as accountability and other issues. The House Finance Committee did insert an amendment this week to that requires districts to spend gifted funding on gifted services.
If the bill does not pass the Ohio Senate in the next two weeks, look for the bill to be reintroduced in January.
